Considering the currently difficult economic conditions, the British government has opted for an extension regarding the transition period for the UKCA marking
The UK and the EU have been separate regulatory and legal areas since 2021. This is accompanied by a number of changes and poses major challenges for many companies. One of these changes is the introduction of the United Kingdom Conformity Assessed (UKCA), which replaces the EU CE mark in the UK. Products exported to the United Kingdom (England, Wales and Scotland) must therefore bear a UKCA marking from January 1, 2023. Separate rules apply to Northern Ireland.
Originally, a transition period was set until January 01, 2023. In June 2022, relaxations were already granted for the conformity procedure. On Nov. 14, 2022, the British government has now announced an extension of the transition period: CE marking will continue to be recognized until Dec. 31, 2024; from Jan. 01, 2025, all products exported to the United Kingdom must then bear a UKCA marking.
