UKCA: New labeling requirement for products marketed in the UK

Apr 19 2021

Bureau Veritas is one of the accredited testing bodies for the award of the UKCA mark

From this year on, Great Britain and the EU are separate regulatory and legal areas. This is accompanied by a number of changes and poses major challenges for many companies.

One of these changes is the introduction of the United Kingdom Conformity Assessed (UKCA), which replaces the CE mark in large parts of the UK. Accordingly, products exported to the United Kingdom (England, Wales and Scotland) must bear a UKCA marking from January 01, 2023. A transition period will apply until December 31, 2022, so that products with a valid CE marking can still be placed on the market in Great Britain until the end of the year. After this transition period, only the UKCA label will be accepted in Great Britain (with the exception of Northern Ireland).
