Shop-Inspection

Shop-Inspection | Bureau Veritas

Inspection of the plant parts and components you have ordered directly at the supplier's premises

Every order and every delivery carries an inherent risk. Especially if the materials have had a long transport route, it is more than annoying if the products ultimately do not meet your requirements or do not meet the product requirements. In addition, it means time delays and disputes with the supplier about returns and reimbursement of costs.

A shop inspection ("shop" in this sense as "workshop" or "production site" or "operation") is an inspection of components, assemblies or complete installations at the manufacturer's premises during production or before delivery.
A shop inspection can be performed on a wide variety of products - from raw materials to finished parts or complete machines or plants.

With an inspection at the supplier's premises even before delivery, quality and safety defects can be detected immediately and countermeasures can be initiated. However, especially with complex products and international suppliers, this is only possible at considerable cost and time. Bureau Veritas has an international network of trained inspectors experienced in a wide range of industries and production processes, who carry out this monitoring for you worldwide in a quality and cost effective manner.

REDUCTION FOR THE PURCHASE OF INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT

Large plant projects in most industries (such as chemical, automotive, metal or oil & gas) require the supply of numerous elements supplied by many different manufacturers. Quality and safety are critical to these projects. The quality of each individual part, no matter how small, is of fundamental importance. These elements range from raw materials to finished products. It is also important to consider the diversity of the elements. They include, for example, piping and hoses, equipment from valves and fittings to steam boilers and motors, all kinds of machinery from hoists to elevators, and electrical and electronic instruments. All deliveries entail a risk. If only one part is defective and the defect goes unnoticed, the risk is automatically built into the new part or installation.

YOUR PRODUCTION MONITORING WITH BUREAU VERITAS

Many companies have their own quality officers to check and final control the quality of the products and goods before they leave the company.
However, if you only notice shortly before the planned dispatch of your products, that a part already installed does not meet the requirements, it is usually already too late to correct the error and still deliver without any delay. Particularly in the case of costly custom-made products with long delivery times, this means that you will not be able to deliver on time.
We check the parts you have purchased according to your specifications worldwide by experienced employees close to the manufacturer – even before the products are on their way to you. This means that faults can still be corrected in good time without jeopardizing your project or your delivery times.

Our inspectors are regularly trained both internally and externally to provide you with the best service. For example, EWE welding engineers, NDT Level II inspectors or FROSIO / DIN-Certco / ZTV-NIG Painting inspectors are available to you as required. In addition to shop inspection, Expediting (adherence to the project schedule through deadline monitoring) can be added as a useful inspection.)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS GOING TO BE TESTED?

In the course of a Shop Inspection, essential manufacturing processes are identified using an inspection plan (Inspection & Test Plan / Quality Plan) and the scope of testing is determined in consultation with you, for example, monitoring of the welding processes, material tests (destructive / non-destructive), pressure tests, heat treatment, functional test / performance test, corrosion protection and final inspection.

In this production monitoring, trained and experienced inspectors check according to your formulated requirements, customer specifications or applicable standards and guidelines. The service is individually tailored to you and your product.

WHAT CAN BUREAU VERITAS DO TO INSPECT OUR PURCHASES THAT OUR OWN QUALITY OFFICERS CANNOT DO?

If your quality inspectors are located in one place or in a limited number of places, the costs are prohibitive. They would have to send you to every country where equipment is manufactured for your projects. If, on the other hand, you choose to inspect the material and equipment on arrival, there are significant risks: late assessments (if equipment is defective, there will be delays in the delivery of new parts), the lack of costly measuring instruments normally available at the supplier’s site and the impossibility of inspecting parts that are already assembled and therefore easily overlooked.
