What is the ISCC Plus certification system? 

With the ISCC PLUS certification system, companies can use a management system to demonstrate the traceability and sustainability of raw materials, intermediate products, and finished products across various value chains. These include the production of food, feed, technical and chemical products, bio-based products, and biomass for energy applications.

The key requirements of the standard focus on sustainability and traceability. Particular emphasis is placed on the sustainable management of agricultural land, supply chain verification, and the provision of evidence throughout the entire value chain, as well as the control of production volumes and processing yields.

Which categories of raw materials can be certified under the ISCC PLUS scheme?

  • Bio-based: corn, cotton, sugarcane, etc.
  • Bio-circular: used cooking oil, forest residues, straw, tall oil, etc.

How can an organization obtain ISCC Plus certification? 

ISCC PLUS certification is valid for a period of 12 months and must be renewed annually. Following each successful recertification audit, a new certificate is issued, specifying the scope of the organization's activities and the materials managed. Compliance with the standard requirements is verified through on-site audits. The duration of the audit depends on the characteristics and complexity of the organization. The ISCC PLUS certification process generally includes the following steps:

  • Submission of the questionnaire
    The questionnaire is submitted to Bureau Veritas, and the relevant certification agreement is signed.
  • Registration
    Registration with ISCC by completing the required application form and submitting the agreement signed with Bureau Veritas.
  • Documentation and audit preparation
    Preparation of the required documentation and completion of the audit.
  • Certificate issuance
    Once the certificate has been issued, sustainable materials can be managed accordingly, and ISCC logos and approved claims may be used.

  • Can the ISCC logo be used on certified products?

    Yes. The ISCC logo may also be used on individual certified products. However, its use is subject to prior approval from ISCC.
